i was told they were 8 months old and would lay soon i have had about 1 month and no eggs yet no crowing either but i am not familiar with this breed. thanks chris

It looks younger then 8 months to me, I'm can start to see some sickle feathers in the tail so I'm leaning towards cockerel.
The birds in the top pic and the bottom pic are cockerels. Most cockerels begin crowing from 4-5 months, but occasionally some of them take considerably longer (I've found this quite frequently to be the case with Orpingtons), and on rare occasions, it may take nearly a year.
