Hi! I posted earlier about care for my one legged chicken (birth defect) and since I'm keeping it in a crate inside for now I wasn't sure if it was OK to use the all natural paper bedding (like for rabbits and ferrets) or if I have to use the pine shavings. Thanks and any other advice is welcome for caring for the little chick, its not growing at the same Raye as other 3.

I use the pine bedding but I'd think the all natural paper bedding would be fine too. I feed my chicks mashed boiled egg at times. This might improve the growth of your chick.

Go to Tractor Supply and buy the smallest bottle of Bovidr Labs Poultry Nutri-Drench. It is all natural, created by a US cattle breeder, made under 2 US patents. I have used the Bovidr Labs products for over a decade on my collies and poultry. It is a great nutritional supplement which does not need to be digested. It mainlines directly into the bloodstream. Measureable in 30 minutes with 99% utilization. This stuff really perks the chicks up. It boosts their G.I tract which helps them digest their feed better.
Here are the poultry instructions. : Give each chick at hatch one drop only by mouth. Repeat as needed every 8-10 hours until perky. For maintenance, put 2-4 ml per gallon in their water. ( I do this for the 2st 2 weeks of life to get my birds off to a strong start. No sicknesses or detahs, just robust chicks. My solution looks like very weak tea. The smallest bottle at Tractor Supply is 6.99. A real good buy. Or try your local feed store.
Best Regards,
Karen
