We bought this hen when she was a day old. She was supposed to be a silkie, but definitely isn't! Any ideas on what she is?? It is hard to see, but she has a splash of emerald green in her feathers. She is 5 months old. [IMG]

What type of comb does she have? She may be a hatchery quality Black Cochin or a mix.

Breeder of Dutch bantams, Wyandotte bantams, and a few exhibition rabbits.

Feel free to ask me questions about chicken and rabbit care, breeds, and showing! I'm always happy to help!

It's a mixed breed pullet.

@valdezsquaw, the appropriate way to post your images when asking about breed or sex is to make your own thread. Posting on other people's threads can make responding difficult and confusing. For the record, the birds in the images are EE pullets.

It's kind of hard to say. her eggs will be small, and she may lay often, but then again she may go broody so much it interferes with egg production.

That is a little disappointing, but maybe she will surprise me.
