The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Morning all

How did the planting go Bob?

I'm so excited for your trip Debby! Your hubby will be totally awed by the SW I'm sure. So very different than anywhere else in the country.

Any babies yet Cap?

Only 1 day left until your mini vacation Teila! Woo hoo!

Sounds like you've got your hands full with all of those adolescents Jae.
I have not been out to the barn yet. Soon though.

We have those nasty little Asian beetles that look like lady bugs and they stink and bite.
Curious (and I am NOT complaining) that our Asian beetles don't stink or bite.

We have had a lot of flying ants, but not that many. We now have bats living in the porch overhang! As if flying squirrels and bees were not enough!
Bats eat lots of flying insects and make fertilizer for your garden.
Ants and flying squirrels don't have those qualities.

I've got bats living between the siding and the trailer walls. They're welcome to stay there. They provide hours of entertainment for the cats.
We have to worry about rabies in bats here.

Guano can smell too. We had a bat colony that lived in the walls of the house we moved to when I was 17. You could smell the Guano when the north wind blew

I agree it is preferable if the bats will take up residence in provided bat houses instead of behind siding or in walls. Then you could collect the guano in a bucket under the bat house.

But they are probably like cats. If you buy/make it FOR them, they want nothing to do with it. Sadly, I've not seen any bats at our place.
