Yeah, they tend to be very long winded and confusingly word things here ha

So bob white need a permit?

I guess I was also just confused by the fact that in that list it says this

1. Blue or Button Quail (Coturnix chinensis)

But then in the second list it says this

Common coturnix (Coturnix coturnix or C. japonica).

It seems like those are 3 different species? And are button the same as coturnix?

I hadn't considered it but all this talk of quail and some research has me considering it! They seem pretty easy to raise and keep and I can't really get more chickens atm

Yeah I'm sure they do!

It sounds like they are just covering their bases. The origins of the Japanese/Coturnix quail seem to be a bit murky. All proper quail are Coturnix something or other, but the Japanese quail has been named the Coturnix quail because people didn't like calling it 'Japanese' when there's apparently European quail blood in the mix (Coturnix coturnix). Yet they could well be the same species as the quail do migrate between Asian countries and Europe.

The Chinese Blue Breasted quail (Coturnix chinensis) aka Button quail aka King quail (depending on where in the world you are) is the smaller one.

It can get confusing I agree! To be even more confusing the true Button quail is actually not a quail but a 'Hemipodes' - they are small, quail-like birds that are distantly related to cranes and rails. :barnie

The Japanese quail are very sweet birds if they are brought up right, and Cap is correct in saying they are often friendlier than chickens. They are so docile and sweet and they are so different to the Button quail chicks - so much calmer and slower and chill.

Good Afternoon Friends :hugs

The Cuban Mojo Pork and Black Beans with rice was delicious! :drool

DMC your sister is very talented! :clap

Debby you are getting to know me well, yes I have frozen the left overs! :p You are also talented! :clap

Cap aaaw gees, that kind of news would shake you up! I too am hoping so very much that all is OK :fl Love the baby bunny! Those little jelly bean paws are adorable! :love

As always Jae, adorable bub! :love

It is only early afternoon and I just got back from my ‘me’ day. I bought some new bras, 3 x T-shirts, 3 x pairs of shorts and 1 x dress. Then, 2 x pairs of shorts for hubby and 1 x sifter and 1 x vegetable mill for the kitchen.

I thoroughly enjoyed that cappuccino when I got to town and KFC for lunch! :drool

Did the grocery shopping for tomorrow also. Being his birthday, hubby swapped his Friday RDO for tomorrow; he tries very hard not to have to work on his birthday  So, I did the shopping so that he does not have to go in to town tomorrow either. It does not help that the fan on the car’s air conditioner is kaput and they can not look at it until Friday :(

Now I am going to catch up on my greets and then back in to town to pick up hubby from work.

While not an actual cyclone, we have a tropical low slowly circling over us and not really moving anywhere so lots and lots of rain!

Thanks Teila! Glad you had a good “me” day!

Good morning Debby, I need to start the coffee and feed the cats as they are summoning me. The Siamese will not stay out of my face.

They sure know how to boss us around, don't they DMC?

Yep, accurate picture! I just had to clean up a mess in the kitchen...not from the cats. I left a ham out last night to thaw and put it in a roaster this morning with some water. The roaster apparently has a hole in it. I’m glad I hadn’t put it in the fridge yet or I would have had a worse mess. The cats were happily licking up ham juice this morning. Now I know why I had a horrid mess in my oven last week when I cooked a roast....thought it boiled over and I’m usually very careful about adding to much liquid and oven was at 300*. Good thing I have 2 roasters. Time for some coffee before I have to reheat or go back to bed:th

I guess the cats got their breakfast one way or another! Ugh, what a mess first thing in the morning.

I've been thinking of Blooie this morning. There's a note on my desk calendar that she & Ken are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary (Feb. 29th is the actual date).

Wherever she is/whatever she is doing today, I hope she's well and happy. So just in case, @Blooie best wishes on your anniversary and I wish you both many more!
