Good morning Debby - you are up with the larks today - sleep gone on holiday or what?
Yeah, guess she must know what a silly arse i am - so no joy there.
Not much going on today - done some washing, found an egg on my veranda chair just now, and making some lentil thing with whats left in the fridge (and thats not much, i can tell you). Might cook some sausages and put that in later - might perk it up a bit.
But it sure is a hot one here in deepest, darkest Africa!
And your good self? You've got a loonngg day ahead?

I can't speak for the Larks, but my sleeping hours are all over the place now...it happens sometimes.
Last week I made a lentil and sausage soup that wasn't bad. It sounds like you're working with the same ingredients I was.
Time to fix up a cup of coffee since it looks like I'll be up for a while yet. Gotta stay awake through all the new member welcomes...wow, so many of them!
I know, its seems to be never-ending at the moment - i'm rather ashamed to admit that i have been doing a bit of cutting and pasting, which is a bit naughty.
I've cobbled together some celery, carrots, onions, garlic, chilli, pepper, with the lentils and used a stock cube and dried mushrooms for the base. Added a few spices, but ho-hum gotta do what we gotta do sometimes eh?

Do you do most of the cooking in your family? DH does quite a bit of it but I've started doing more lately because of his work hours. He's actually a better cook than I am but I do the baking, love to make bread and usually have something on hand for the sweet tooth.
This is what went into my soup:
1 pound Italian sausage
1 large onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
2 large carrots, chopped
1 small zucchini, chopped
6 Cups chicken broth
2 - 14.5 oz. cans diced tomatoes, undrained
2-3 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp salt
2 Cups lentils
red pepper flakes
Thats certainly not far off the mark from whats in my pot right now. I'm thinking of adding some cubed potatoes also - wish i had some chorizo, but its regular pork sausages in the freezer, so they will have to do.
And yep, i do 100% of the cooking. DW is clueless - in fact, i'm not sure if she knows where the kitchen actually is! I used to work in kitchens when i was a student, so picked up a bit there, but more importantly, i learned how to chop veggies like a demon which is half the battle. She does bake occasionally, but I don't eat sweet stuff - i figure if I'm going to put weight on, it may as well be for something that i really like (no slim-line tonics for me! ).
