I worked with a physicist whose specialty was working with mega jewels of electricity... part of the star wars technology that got scrubbed by politics... He was a bitter bitter man... We were reverse engineering gene splicing tools as well as developing tools of our own. I was the only designer on the team... He had a geneticist on loan from an ivy league college back east....

This was all back thirty years ago.... And around the time of the release of the movie Jurassic park. I asked the Geneticist if Jurassic Park was possible... He flat out said Absolutely.... :th

The part that scared me about that job was they would sell the technology to anyone who wanted it... The part that made me hopeful was they were working on a technique to deliver Chemotherapy in precise localized doses...
Electroporation is still in its infancy.... but they are working on using it for delivering nanites to tumor cells.

that is about as much as I knew of the technology... I was designing safety tools for the scientists and test specimen containers for the experiments.

What I write is pure adventure and am in the process of developing a society to encapsulate the whole thing.

Some of the characters are truly alien some are humanoid. and of course some are human. One of the main characters is alien. kind of a cross between "Underworld" and "Avatar".... but within my own world rules...
She is the captain of a ship.... and thats all I can say ...

Its hard not to become trite on the subject matter... I haven't had it edited yet When I do then I could share a second draft.

I was going fast and furious on the writing before jewelry making... I decided to enter a contest called NanoWrimo... National Writers month. You have to write 50,000 words in thirty days... So I thought what the heck. I needed back story for some of my characters so I signed up.

I finished the goal with ten days to spare... got my certificate... AND wound up with a short novel that was far better than the original that had been forty years in the works.

Recently I started writing another characterization and it wound up another vignette within this world a Prequel of sorts. I shared it with Orr who did a bit of editing on it. And No I cant share it on such a large venue.

@Pork Pie Hes funny and irreverent but you can see him alot on the welcome threads. Ken was part of his original name... whhich stands for Kenya. some one nick named him Pork Pie on a thread I am on and he liked it so much he had his name changed.

wow, that is so interesting to say the least, had a friend that her second husband wrote a mystery set in poland, needless to say, i love reading but don't know anyone who writes

Got my flu and pneumonia shots Rolled over last night and laid on the pneumonia shot arm. ZING!!!! Yep, I’m awake....3am and I was up for over an hour. Don’t know if I was supposed to or not, but I iced that thing!

Snowing and blowing like crazy in and around Cody yesterday. Got to Powell, about 20 miles from Cody and the halfway point to home, and it was windy but clear and stayed like that all the way home. Woke up this morning to gray skies and a skiff of snow. We are supposed to go over the mountains to Sheridan for a Scottish Rite banquet. Well, they can banquet without us! Ken says he’s about on his last legs at this point, and we know the mountains are socked in. He says he might have tried it driving Shrek IF he was refreshed enough from the last couple of weeks, but not when we’re this tired already. Need to be totally sharp up there on a dry day, and right now there’s heavy snow and serious drifting with the high winds. Um, nope!

The young couple down the street that we got Fiona from had an adventure last night - a mountain lion in their driveway eating a deer! Here’s a copy and paste of her post:

“COWLEY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS! Tonight (Friday) at 8:45 pm we had a mountain lion eating on a deer in our driveway in the middle of town. Anyone who has kids or small animals out tonight might want to get them inside!!”

Cari and Jacob live four blocks south of us and ONE block west of the middle/high school. It’s also about 7 blocks from the kids’ house. Until Jenny can drive again (should be on the 22, Thanksgiving day, appropriately) or until this lion is killed or relocated by Game and Fish, I’m telling her that I’m picking Katie up to take her to and from school. It’s still a little dark when she walks by herself early in the morning, and I ain’t having it! Jen’s hours got changed in October so she doesn’t walk to work at the school until 9, but I’ll be picking her up too! This sighting is also just a block and a half from the elementary school.

I had a friend that started out writing(as she called them) bodice rippers. Basically the same story over and over with different names for the principles. She sent me a copy of her "Me, and the Boys," manuscript. Said Harrison Ford was interested in it. That was in the '70s.

Didn't hear from her after that. A few years ago googled her and found out she had died at her parents home. :hit

Goggled my favorite English teacher from HS. found out she had died. I try not to google anyone I know after that.:hit
