Help with new hen

Thread Starter
Hi everyone! I'm new to raising chicken. Just today I traded my rooster for another hen. My chickens are free range. I added this new hen by simply letting her out in the yard with the others. I quickly realized that they are not accepting the new hen. I know it can take time, but my main concern right now is if they are going to let her into the coop tonight when they go in for the night? She has been hiding in some thick brush and won't let me approach her. My fear at the moment is her being left outside in the woods for the night because they don't let her in and I can't get her because she's so scared and won't let me near her. What do I do?!

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Chickens don't move in the dark.  So if you find her you can catch her and put her in a crate in the coop  - so the other birds won't harm her.  For next day, read the articles on integrating new bird with established ones.  So she won't be bullied or brutalized.

Did a moth know that the flame was going to change her life forever, or did she simply fly towards that heated embrace, knowing it would offer her something she couldn't give herself? In the end, the answer didn't really matter. The moth had never wanted the choice. -Joey W. Hill-

If you can set up a couple of feed stations (out of eye-sight of each other) when you do let her join the rest of the flock it can help to minimise aggression.
