HAWKS HAVE KILLED 12 CHICKENS

Hawks keep killing my chickens. Weds i discoved a horrible scene 4 dead chicks and one i had to put down from a broke leg puctured threw the skin. Thats 5 chicks. Thursday i had 2 mpre dead chicks. Same thing froday. Threw this hole thing i was putting up tarps galor to stop it from flying in. Friday i put the 9 remaing chicks plus our 2 adult bantams in an enclosed pen. They were all fine this morning. I came home check on them. 2 dead bantams INSIDE a cage. And one dead adult. Thats 12 chickens. This pain is imberalble. The pen is an old dog pen under a tree but our friend cut too much tree away. Theres no easy way to cover the hole pen. Plus we dont have the money at the moment. Im dying inside. Its not going to stop is it? I cant pen up 25 adult chickens. I only have dog crates as night time roosts for those who dont sleep in the tree (we have a shed our friend who is going to put it together is in basic training right now) what do i do? I now have 8 chickens dead and mutilated in my trash can. Plz help me. Im at my witts end.

Wow!!!, that's sad. Can you get a dog run like those 6ft by 4ft and cover the top with tarp that way they can be a bit free but safe. I use one as a run and have it halfway covered with Tarp. Check Craig list for cheap ones or go to a resale store (habitat for humanity) if you have any close by.

The hawks and other predators won't stop unless your chickens are kept in a safe place that they can't access.

Sorry for your loss..

Our chickens are in an old dog run we had that we converted its at leasts 50 inches long and 15 inches wide. Theres no realy way to enclose it until i get money for a net on top. Were gonna try stringing rope and then put the tarps on top. If that doesnt work we will have to heard all chickens into the smaller partion of the pen and tarp that like crazy until i get paid.
