Today when I went out to lock the chickens up in the coop my little silkie hen wasn't in her sleeping area with the other hens and rooster like she usually was, she was laying in the goat shed in her laying corner just laying there. I checked her over and she was fine she was just laying there on no eggs and was puffed up and just kind of dazing off. I finally figured out she was broody and went and grabbed 5 of her eggs (from the last 5 days) and slipped them under her, she didn't move or anything she just kind of let me. She was all puffed up and wouldn't get up so i just locked her up in the shed on her eggs and I am going to get her some food and water in the morn, and she is separated from the flock. Am I missing something?
This is my first hen to go broody and I want her to hatch and raise the chicks............so any tips or is anyone else have a newly broody hen? I am excited but nervous and this is the first time I have had a broody.
Thanks
