Hi. I just joined the forum minutes ago. We have chickens at home which we use for food and this morning I picked up a baby chick thay was, by the look of things left out all night alone. she was hatched 5days ago with siblings but was too small to keep up. so I just picked her up and gave her mashed puppy food mixed with medicated water. brand name:AviBoost poultry tonic, through a dropper. Usually when a chick gets injured my mom just culls it but now she is not here and I want to do all I can to save her. She was weak and dehydrated but now she is chirping at intevals even though she is asleep. She cannot move and seems to be blind. but when I touch her she is alert. Anything else I can do? I am keeping her in my drawer and its warm but should I add a light? I dont want to damage her sight further. Please help.

Thank you so much...a few more questions. How often should I feed her? Can I feed her while laying on her back? It just seems less of a hassle to get the medicine dropper into her mouth that way coz im afraid if I don't grt it as far back I might make her inhale the mixture. There is also a tapping sound when she breathes, it's worrying me but I'm afraid if it stops she will be dead.

Update:She is fine today...still sluggish and blinded but she skoots around haphazardly when I touch her. I never thought she would actually last the night but she is fine. thank you so much. I have named her Canoey(pronounced Cany)
