questions on first time broody....

You must have babies by now! I'm curious to learn how things are going. It's late in the year for little ones (around here) so I hope you got them into a warm and safe environment. Update please!
 
I agree...i will go with nature too ...i will let the mamas hatch the eggs ...spring time ...it is too cold now ...
 
I had a hen hatch eggs in November a couple years ago. It wasn't too cold at first but after about 5 days it dropped to 10F. I hung a heat lamp over the food and water across the coop from the nest. I wanted them to be warm enough to eat and drink. Otherwise they'd have to stay in the nest with the hen all the time.
Then it was going to single digits for a few days so I brought the chicks inside. I guess the hen thought she had lost them. Wen the chicks were about 3 weeks old, it had warmed back up a bit so I brought them back outside. You should have seen the reunion. It was true love.
