The picture from top to bottom shows incubator temp and humidity shed temp and humidity chicken coop temp and humidity and inside the house temp and humidity. I'm in Fairbanks Alaska coop is insulated 8 x 12 building but no extra heat source generally stays about 25° warmer in the coop. I open the chicken door every morning and close it every night at dark anytime the outside temperature is below zero. Even at 30 below zero the coldest the inside of the coop has gotten is five below zero. Currently at zero outside, and inside the coop is 23°.

What kind of ventilation do you have in coop?
 
I can close off some or all ventilation if I need too, but I haven't had to close any. So far it's been a fairly mild winter. Had a couple days at about 28 below zero but no long 40 below snaps yet.
 
Wow, 30 below!? Brrrrrr. Thanks for all the great information on this thread, it's good to remember this animal has been living outside a long time before we decoded to make powys of them :)
Here I was thinking the 50 degrees and bright sun might need a warming lamp. Nope. They are just so happy outside! Can't wait till they are ready to sleep outside! 8 weeks old, feathered up, and digging up worms when they are out. It gets awful chilly-not Montana and Alaska chilly- but Colorado cold at night. This weekend my precision coop gets a 2'lower story with extra nesting boxes addition. Then the indoor sleeping is over! Yay birds like being outside! :shocking: lol
