Found not bearing weight. No apparent sign of trauma, but possible (not from predator). Been in isolation for four days. Eating, drinking, laying. Chatting when she hears my voice, soaked leg in garlic/natural antibiotic.
Leg very warm in comparison today. Suspect local infection. What type of antibiotic covers blood/trauma infection?
Raises leg under feathers, occasionally pecks on foot but no sign of bumble foot. Still doing well other than clearly painful leg/foot, slightly swollen today.
Advice? Thank you; she is a dear pet.

Welcome to BYC. Is the whole leg swollen or in the joints? Have you ever seen any signs of a respiratory disease in your flock? Do you see any scrapes or small cuts in the skin. Mycoplasma Synovitis similar to MG, is a disease that may cause mild or no respiratory symptoms, but can cause swelling and pain in one or both legs. Gout is also a disease that may affect legs with swelling and pain. Mycoplasma is treated with Tylan or oxytetracycline antibiotics, but if she has another possible infection in her leg, drugs that treat staphylococcus or E.coli may be better. Do you have a vet that could prescribe something like Baytril or enrofloxacin that would treat more than one thing? Gallimycin (erythromycin) from a feed store may also work for all of those. Unfortunately it would be best to find the cause of her leg problem to know how best to treat it. Here is some information about MS and articular gout:

Thank you for your detailed information. The foot is swollen only slightly. Whole leg is warm. I have not had respiratory issues, but will certainly watch for them. I will work with your values advice; thanks again for taking the time.
