Okay... Another question. What if it actually starts zipping ( I think I am using the right word) and then stops? Is that normal? Maybe I need to go away and stop watching. Ha ha

Chick#7 hatched, one more pip, and some wiggling eggs
I am new to this....I have had some start to zip, but take well over an hour to hatch. It's like they are tired, work for a bit, rest, work for a bit etc. I don't know what would be TOO LONG of a wait between zipping and hatching. But it can take a while.
Same here! I'm getting anxious. I did a quick candle this morning and didn't see any internal pips at all though the ones I could see into were moving around.
Me too. Boss says I can go home early. Yay!!!!
This baby finally made an appearance at 3 am this morning! By 7:45 "she" had a "sister"
Yes, that is normal. If you have other eggs pip, zip and hatch before this one has more progress, and it is peeping in distress (a louder, more insistent peep than normal), then I might take a closer look to see if it got too dry and got stuck. Then, I will use a q-tip and re-wet the membrane with warm water. I am very hesitant to help as it usually ends badly. My theory is, if a chick is not strong enough to hatch on its own, it is probably not going to be a strong member of the flock.
Oh and we must not forget the PROUD AUNTIE!
