We have bright white, and they play ALL NIGHT LONG, they cat nap, but then it's peep peep cheeep, peep peck n scratch. I was hoping a red light at night would help with sleeping. Is it natural to cat nap but play till all hours. I mean here it was 12-1-2-3 and they're peeping and scratching lol

Hi and

. The red light will help a little bit but they will still be up and doing whatever it is they feel like doing. How old are they? Depending on the age and how much feathering they have and what your temp is in the room they are in you maybe to turn the light off at night.

Oh goodness, just a few weeks old, our room gets very cold at night, they will still need the heat for quite a while I think.

Also my dad said the red heat lamp will roast them and kill them But I highly doubt it because it was bought in the chicken section, and is meant for chickens. What do you guys think?

I could, but I wouldn't be able to as easily check on them, and they'd be alone all day and all night and I was hoping that this batch of babies, growing up next to me till they're big enough tl go out would encourage them to be lap chickens. Friendly pets I could pet and chill with. Our other babies grew up not liking to be handled, partly due to being pretty much alone except for check ins and feedings an the odd visit or two a day.

So, how come adults go to bed the minute it's dark and babies stay up and play all night, does lights have to do with it? Or just the nature of babies?
