Weak and eyes closed. Will it be ok??

Hi there,

I have 7 fertile eggs under my broody hen and its my first time hatching eggs! Day 21 was yesterday and I have 6/7 hatched so far. However, one of them has come out and appears weak and eyes are closed. Legs are still curled up as if still in the egg and bottom half is a little bloody. She is breathing and mouth is opening.

What has happened? Did she not fully absorb the yolk? Will she be ok if I leave her with Mumma? I am scared to take her out in case she gets rejected afterwards

Thanks

Hi welcome-byc.gif

I see you posted over a day ago, has the chick made it? Had the chick just hatched when it's legs were still curled up? With you saying it has a bloody back end that would point me towards an umbilical problem. Could be mushy chick http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/mushy-chick-disease-yolk-sack-infection-omphalitis
