I have 3 ducks and four chickens. We have a decent sized run. Inside one duck coop one chicken coop. The problem I'm running into is flooring options for the run. I'm currently using construction sand. So far it's been great for the chickens EXCEPT the ducks. I live in Oregon it rains a lot. The run is enclosed and covered but with wind it manages to get the sand wet and compacted. The ducks are needy and make a mud pit by there waterer no matter how often I fill in with sand. One duck we had to put down recently due to many health issues but it started with the beginnings of bible foot. Her sister now is being treated for bumble in both feet. I'm torn about which is best. Any input would help. Like

said it works great for the chickens but the ducks have such sensitive tootsies.

I use a shallow channel to direct water away from the pen - no standing water.

You can build a platform covered with pvc coated hardware cloth so the water doesn't pond around the waterer. But the water needs to be directed somewhere outside the pen if the soil doesn't soak it up fast enough.
