What breed laid the first egg for you?

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about them. Right now the eggs from my babies are really small. Another " chicken parent" said they will get bigger. Can't wait.

Yes, the eggs from new layers will be small but over time they will get bigger. Hang in there. I know it's hard to patient :D

Here are my newbie layers eggs

My 2 production reds were the 1st @ 22 wks
White Plymouth Rock (jumbo's from her) was next along with my New Hampshire and the SLW few weeks later then one GLW....still waiting on one GLW, EE, 2 BO's and 3 Brahmas...they are 27 weeks on Wed.
Oh and my Black Star sex link (who is big as a small/med dog) doesn't even look close..

The white leghorn was first at 19 weeks 5 days. She was followed 10 days later by the Jersey Giant which surprised me that such a large bird would lay earlier than the others. Then in quick succession the RIR, the New Hampshire, Barred Rock, EE. The last to lay, and I'm not sure she is laying yet is the Buff Orpington. Have never seen her in the nesting box. Her comb is still pink, not red at 35 weeks.

That's great to get the first egg at 22 weeks. Production Reds are good layers. I am still waiting for my BSL too and a couple of Ameraucanas to start laying. They are 28 weeks. The waiting is the worst. Hang in there. :D

My BO started laying at 25 weeks. Sounds like yours is a late bloomer. Do you have pic of her? Here's my "Daisy"

RIR was first at 19 weeks, Buff Orpington and Americana 2nd and 3rd at 20 weeks. I had 10 more start to lay at 21 weeks but It was hard to keep track of all of them, 27 of 28 laying now, still waiting on my Black star to start (I figured she would have been the first, shows you how much I know)

No, I have no pictures of Goldie and no way to get any at this time. I'm in AZ for the winter and she's in MT. I hope she isn't like the Lakenvelder I had a couple years ago. The Lakenvelder laid 3 eggs in February and never laid another egg. I gave her to a neighbor who loved the way she looked.

I also would have figured your black star to lay first. Goes to show that each chicken is different.

I know how you feel. My Black Sex Link is 28 weeks old and her comb is small. She is maturing so slowly. We just have to wait them out...:D

Here is mine.....Iris. To compare to yours
