i got our dna results back! and i have 2 females!! which is ok its an excuse to get more emus! lol im now on the hunt for 2 males..... i would like 2 males because i don't want a trio and risk the chance of bad fights and then fence jumping! what is everyone's experiences with trios?
 
When I see the term "trio", I normally think one male, and two unrelated females. I know nothing about Emus. Will two females fight? I would think you don't need two males. I also would imagine two males would fight. You would probably have to keep them separated. If your females are full sisters, you might think about trading one for an unrelated female of the same age. Just a thought.

2 males, 2 female, a trio or whatever...fighting is a well known issue amongst these birds no matter what the sex or how many you have of them.
 
oh i am well aware for years now i have had hand experience with people who have raised emus for a combined century. they will fight that is why WE have many different areas fenced in. along with brooding stalls and healing stalls. but in my experiences likely you would have different......trios or more have a MUCH higher rate of violence especially in the females. and in pairs its usually the female who starts the fights that is why we are making our fences higher we can not have any fence jumpers.
