Hey guys. I just finished my coop. We have 3 buff orpingtons and 2 Rhode Isl Reds. I started with a pallet and got most of my wood from the 70% off rack at home depot. I also got a lot of free scrap wood from there. I am loving the food and watering system I made and the chickens seem to be very happy. Let me know what you think. Here is the youtube video tour...

Hi there - great job! I really like your watering and feeding system - very nifty indeed! Its possibly just a personal thing, but i would not leave a light inside the coop all night. Maybe during "winter time" it may be ok to put a light on for a while, but i am not sure that chickens need more than 12 hours or so of daylight. If they do fall off the roost, they will simply stay on the floor of the coop until the next morning - its not far to fall and they are perfectly safe, so i would not sweat that.

Very nice coop! I also use a igloo water cooler. I find that keeping a frozen water bottle in there, year around stops that evaporation - condensation cycle. Which helps keep mold from growing, also a little ACV. I just use a smaller bottle in the winter.
