So I've got 6 eggs in the magicfly incubator.

2 from my whiteleg horn and 4 from 2 of my buff orpingtons(2 ea.) - they will be mixes.

So I woke up this morning to a chickie-baby that hatched overnight. I was a little surprised because before I went to bed (midnight), I checked on the eggs and nothing. So this was very nice!

It was one of my buff oprington's egg. And I immediately know who the daddy is! Arnold, our bearded black silkie! There is nothing "buff" on this baby chickie - looks like the daddy! Here is it's first pic!

I'm super excited to see what other crosses we have, or maybe Arnold has been one busy rooster!

I'll post updates here!

ETA: I'm using the dry-hatch method.

Had another buff orpington egg to hatch around 1PM today......same.......our Silkie is the daddy! So, both have the black shanks, skin, feathers, beak BUT no feathers on the legs and 4 toes.

So these would be sexlinks? The rooster is the Silke and the hen a Buff Orpington. Chickie babies are females?

sex-link would be a solid rooster with a barred hen

No, they aren't sex linked.

As of this morning, I still have 1 unhatched egg and 1 pipped.

Here's what we have so far.

To clarify: All do have feathers on the legs and all do have 5 toes.
The dark ones are Black Bearded Silkie (roo) x Buff Orpington (hen)
The yellow one is Black Bearded Silkie (roo) x White Leghorn (hen)

And the nosy white fluffy thing on the far right is Missy, my maltipoo.....she has been beside herself since the first one hatched. Too bad she'll never be a mama of her own, she'd make a great one!
