Ducks are great to have around and will keep the grass short but just make sure you always have plenty of water for them to play in and feed them good quality food, depending on where you live and what is available at the local feed stores ......

You picked a great duck if you are looking to be collecting a lot of eggs .....

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a chicken person (as are most of the members on this section) and don't know much about ducks (although I've had a few). I would suggest posting on our Duck section in Other Backyard Poultry under the Forum at the top of the page and taking advantage of our duck experts there.) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

I don't know much about ducks but if they are anything like chickens, the shortened daylight hours and season of molt can greatly impact their rate of lay. For example, I have 11 hens and I am lucky if I get 1 egg per day right now.
