Default image size

The default largest inline image display size is width 500, height 1000. That can, of course, be changed by using the source setting in the post composition window, but I'm sure hardly anyone knows about or uses that button.

The size seems odd to me. 500 px is pretty narrow for good display in most windows; even small mobile devices can handle larger or will automatically resize. And 1000 is pretty high, requires scrolling. I would think a width of 800 and height of 600 would work much better on pretty much all devices.

What is the reasoning behind the current settings?

Thanks, we'll look into this!

Originally this was the setting based on feedback from our technicians when they analyzed the screen widths of most monitors and the resolution used by most site visitors. They coupled this with the side bar and other factors of the site and determined the best optimal default.

We'll review and see if it makes sense (and if we're even able ) to change it. :)

Can you post two pictures, one at the default size and one at your recommended size? Being the curious type I am, I'd like to see the difference between the two.

This is the default maximum display width, 500 pixels wide. (the image is 375 high)

This one is 800 x 600, which I think is a reasonable size to be able to see detail without eating too much bandwidth or screen. Smaller platforms, like phone, will normally automatically resize the display to fit their screens.

And this one is 500 x 1000, which is set as the default maximum. Not a friendly aspect ratio for most platforms or screens.
