Thats all boy, pullets dont get streamers and his are definitely making themselves know. Bearded birds don't get large wattles, as the bearding suppresses them, even on males. None of my hens, even the mature egg laying girls, have red wattles.

He's pretty, and would probably make lovely babies if paired with a nice, dark skinned female :)

I want to breed him with my black pullet, who is also his bff. They are snuggle buddies, lol

Ok, i was able to get better pics today

Hackle feathers

Dont mind my oegb in this one, lol

Aside from the large crest, i see more similarities between her and my male (same age) than her and my girl (also same age). I worry that the difference in crest could be due to the vaulted skull? Both my boys are not vaulted; this one and the girl are vaulted.
Does everyone still think she's a pullet???
Is this the same one that was posted a few months ago? That I thought was a pullet? if so I was clearly wrong

That is a roo, that comb too is very big and wide and the streamers you pointed out I do see. Silkies are so hard to guess, but it does make it fun :)

Yes, same bird, lol. He looks so different than the other males from the same hatch. The only thing i can think of is that he is my only male that has a vaulted skull. I have two 3 week old silkies so i will probably be back to play the guessing game with you guys again!

How old? I only have one non-bearded and its a boy. Compared to him she looks more feminine to me but i dont know what age unbearded females get wattles. Maybe someone else will be more help. I dont see any other features that look rooish. Age and a comb closeup might help.

Hmmm, might be a boy. I only say that because it looks like the comb is bubbling up a bit and may have some reddish purplish undertones??? It's really hard to tell but it looks an awful lot like how my nonbearded boy looked around that age. But, like I said, I don't have any nonbearded females so who knows? I can tell you that my 23 week bearded pullet has nothing going on in the comb area.
Either way, cute bird. I need to get myself a buff silkie!!! I currently have black, splash and white. I will eventually get my hands on some buffs and I'd like a partridge too. Of course, I'll need some paints, porcelains, lavendars, cuckoos, blues....... well, at least one of every possible variety, lol.

I'm still really hoping for a pullet, but you're right that there is some bubbly texture starting in there. Ironically, this silkie was a complete surprise in color. There were ten in my order, and all but two were white. One was a paler buff, and then there's this one who has some distinct black spotting in the wing tips and a few dark head feathers as well. I think he/she is absolutely gorgeous though, and I'm hoping for a broody hen out of the deal since that's the main reason I have them.
