Hi all,
I've been reading on here for a while and finally decided to join. I'm looking for some advice in replacing my layers.

My laying hens are getting older and since the weather has turned colder, they have nearly stopped laying. So, I think it's time to go ahead and cull my flock so I'm not feeding them through the winter. I have 2 roosters I'm planning to keep because I like to hatch my own eggs, but I think I'm going to cull all the hens.

I have 19 chicks growing in a separate space right now. 6 are about 14-15 weeks old, and the rest are around 10-11 weeks old. On to my question...

After culling the hens and I'm left with just the two roos, can I move all the chicks in with my roos or will I have problems since they are still young? The pen I have the chicks in now is getting a little small. Should I move all of them in? Only the bigger chicks for a few weeks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

All the new chicks at once, means you don't have to do it twice. At twelve plus weeks they should be able to co inhabit with the roosters. You might want to put the roosters behind a wire partition for a few days to let them see the new flock and get to know them before they can mingle.
