Surviving Minnesota!

They are staggered, but not within reach....I don't think. There's 2 feet between them. Maybe more. But if there's a will.....

I'm going to hang out one more time tomorrow night and see if anything is amiss.

My mother-in-law is going to make me some hen saddles. I'm not very crafty when it comes to that stuff. I found a design online and sent it to her

I did it and would prefer to never do it again... it was hard to do at Ralphies but I think it was easier because it wasn't one of my own... Well my girl Butterscotch the one that has had all the problems,,, i went to the run this morning to feed and water and noticed there was almost nothing left to her head I could see her eyeballs but her head was bloody with huge holes it was not good.. I think maybe she scratched till it bleed and the other girls must have did the rest. I didn't see any sign of entry from an animal and everyone else looked good. So i knew what needed to be done. I made a killing cone out of a milk jug and screwed it to the tree. I went to the coop and said Pooper Pack and yes she came right to me,,,she always has, she is the only one that does... so I picked her up and held her. when she started cooing it just about broke my heart. Anyways it was over very quickly...

I was going to take her to the U of M but I just couldn't i dug a big hole by the Cherry Tree...

2 hens in 1 wk... to hard...

So sorry to hear the bad news, you cared for her and kept trying. It just totally sucks. I can feel your pain.

So sorry Coffee. I think its almost harder after you've cared for them a bit too. But the ones I did that for I still don't have any regrets on giving that care. They deserved me trying my best for them. The decision you made was the right one and she has a better life already to be sure. She'll see you again on the rainbow bridge.

Christmas kisses for Sylvia and Lucy who gave me these eggs on short light days. I REALLY like my Wyandottes. :D

I should have known when Roger came racin' out of the coop yesterday, something was up.

Did anyone get out and enjoy the weather today? I took a half day off work and came home to work around the house. The ups guy came and our chickens rushed him. it was hilarious. he put the package on the stoop and rushed back to his truck. They just wanted some treats :)
