Surviving Minnesota!

So Ralphie - did Judy get the all-clear from the doctor to go back to work FULL time. IF he did (and I know that this is really none of my business

So I did some stuff to the coop today to accomodate the other three hens. While I was in the coop I heard a shot gun and it sounded close. I thought 'hmmm, i never hear anyone hunting during the week' then my DS came to ask me a question about Quick Books and I followed him in making a comment about the shot gun.

Nothing was said.

By the time I came back outside there were sirens and it sounded like a lot more than what we would provide from Big lake. I think ' hmmm, I hope that everyone is okay.' I took the dogs out for a walk alittle after 2 and there was a helicopter hovering overhead. It was gone by the time I was returning from the walk.

My DS took a work break about 3:40. He looked at me and said a house exploded off of Hiawatha.

Ahhhhhhh - dah! I am so oblivious. I guess, from what was on the news so far, this guy walked into his house and smelled gas. He turned around and walked out and just as he closed the door the house exploded. Like leveled. Nothing left. Nada. Black burned spot left. Now I am going to go onto the forum to get that story.

Judy might go back to work on the 14th. The Dr wants her to get through the 2 weeks (when he set the date) without relapse and to get her strength back. She is doing a lot better. She spend quite a bit of time outside with me, working.

Where is Hiawatha? Is that close to you? I just know county road numbers, I am old.

MnMOM!!!! Do you still want a SS rooster? The one I took to Hutch is most likely not going to be available but I have a bunch of others to pick from. The second place rooster from Hutch, not Snuggles, the other one, has entered a 12 step program. He was given advance placement. He is on step 10.

Remember when I said he bit/pecked Judy with her gloves on. He tried me later that night but I put it down to just being cocky after hitting her. I went to take him out of his cage tonight and he backed up and let me have it.

He took about an inch of skin and I bleed pretty good from it. I picked him up put his head down and crowed and clucked at the back of his head. I made him my ragdoll but he did not understand it. When I let him up he went at me again.

This movement got him the advance placement. Judy wants to change his name to Sunday Dinner. Very soon too. I am afraid he may not live through another attack on one of us.

If you want him I suppose you could, BUT I would rather you have one with manners....

Maybe when I bathe them for New Ulm I can bath this one in 160 degree water.

Hey Ralphie - the road that heads west around the lakes - about two blocks down from me on the right side while driving into town. On the left side traveling into town is the house that is half buried into the ground. That is right across the road from Hiawatha. Wow! Its gone!

My understanding at this time is that he was outside the house and suffered burns and will recover. EVERYTHING IS GONE. The Big Lake Community is responding to the immediate needs. It is also my understanding that there are two 15 year old twin girls, their mother and their godfather. I understand that he was working two jobs to support the family and they had just bought the house recently.

I think they lost all their pets; a dog and three cats but the girls are hopeful that somehow they survived the ordeal.
