Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning...been a while since I've posted. Had a huge storm roll through this morning so I've been procrastinating on chores. We had our fall poultry show in New Ulm this last weekend. Had just about 900 birds there and I was drooling over a lot of the large fowl entries. Huge section of waterfowl this year. Temps were in the 90's and was a sweaty ordeal cooping in and especially tearing down all that cooping on Sunday. From people I've talked to, there wasn't much at the Hutchinson game breeders swap this weekend. Anyone go to the sale in Jackson? Curious as to what that baby zebra brought....

If anyone wants to see pics from the New Ulm show I have about 60+ on Facebook..... Feel free to add me. The BCPPA also has a facebook page too and its under Brown County Pigeon & Poultry I think?

Hello all. My favorite Chickeneers.

Life has been busy with trips up to my folks' place. Dad is stable but lost alot of muscle over last winter. DD has been asked to be 11th grade representative for the Homecoming court....so dress shopping in small towns on short notice is a less than desirable thing to do. A wasted trip to Bemidji. On line over night order. Over $200 later we have her outfitted for 1 hour of parading in a gymnasium. She is happy though...and I guess that's the way it rolls.

I lost a lavender Ameraucana probably to a bird of prey. I wasn't quite back to the house from my Parent's house and DH and DS had a story of sqwauking and a flash of brown around the shed (probably a coincidental deer) and 6 birds left under the deck. No feathers any where. At All. BOP is all I can think. We are dwindling to nada peoples. I'm having thoughts like Ed. Like no chores. Like no predator guilt feelings. Chickens are a joy but I'm sick of the losses right now. And a winter without hauling water and cold fingers sounds devine. IDK...

I probably sound like a broken record.

Parusing the mushroom sites on FB. Found a couple good ones. And with last Wednesday's rain and then heat and now the cool down....It's popping up like crazy out there. fun to be in the woods too.

MN chick Mom your barn is amazing.

Holms --drooling over your buffs.
Layers -- chicks this time of year? Uffda. ;) :gig

These are gray days here lately. Need to jump on the mower tonight though.

Ok.

I lied.

Found her in the broody coop. Broody. Hoarding 14 eggs covered in rotten egg yolk. Her breast plucked but remaining feathers in filth hard to get off smelling yolk. She got a bath and closed the doors on that little coop. Been too busy to check that spot I guess!!!

And glad she’s alive!!!
