Surviving Minnesota!

Morning all! I got up late this morning, not normal. I looked at the clock at 5:30 and thought, meh...a little longer, then I rolled over and it was 7:15! Didn't have much time to enjoy my coffee before biking to the office.

I think the hens I processed yesterday wore me out a bit. My arms are sore. I much prefer butchering young birds, not so much connective tissue to wrestle with.

Going to be another hot one. I just move slower and take a lot of breaks, but I'm looking forward to the cool down next week. Supposed to be in the 70's.

Good Morning All....
It has been a while. I too am enjoying the warm wave of heat.

Knock on wood we have not been plagued by the gnats like the people on the Minnesota River have been. It sounds absolutely terrible.

4H has ramped up, we will be hosting a fitting clinic for how to care for and how to show chickens/poultry later this month. Should be a blast we have about 5 new families with 12 new kids....Yeah! lots of little bodies to mold into chicken lovers....minimal information will be provided for duck lovers.

Gotta run... work is calling my name.

The gnats are horrendous here this year. There are huge clouds of them all over the yard. I can't walk to my car without one buzzing in my ear. Thank goodness for Buggins, if I didn't have that I wouldn't even want to be outside. Vanilla does work, it just doesn't last as long as buggins. I bought a bottle of cheap imitation vanilla last year, mixed it with some water, and put it in a spray bottle- it works ok until it wears off. It makes a lot for $1 though so you can just keep spraying it on.

Finishing the last chicken tractor. Growout chicks & poults will be in it tonight! :wee
