Morning . I had a few chicks hatch Tuesday . Among them 1 Golden Seabrite x auto sexing EE . There will be more hatch later . Used the shotgun method as a friend calls it . I had the GL and my crele cockerl in there . Easy to tell the daddy as any rose comb GL are noticably different . I have a pullet from this about 6 weeks old and this new one is a cockerel . Sex link as GL rooster is not barred . The purpose of this cross is to test a genetic theory . Barring interrupts slate in the legs especially on males carrying 2 barring genes . Mottling has the same effect . So I noticed Millie Fleur bantams do not have this problem . So I wondered why . Millie is based on eb brown at the e locus . Some say mottling is not as strong as barring on slate legs . GL are based on brown and I could borrow this rooster . So this is to find the truth . Candy corn is one name for GL Polish with barring . Could not find much info on them but some interference with leg seemed present in pictures I found . It will take 2 more generations to get a double barred male with brown .
The whole purpose is to see if I could get good leg color for auto sexing Ameraucana project . I have enough trouble on cuckoo . Other breeds ignore the leg color issue but some Ameraucana breeders will not budge .
