I am going to change some things Jerry.
I think it was my fault I put two hatches together the other day. I think having the bigger ones in there was my problem. I am going to set up my massive CX pens and move the chicks in there at a couple weeks. or so. The pen in 6x12 so they should not pile up as badly.
I have two tanks set up in the shed, no corners for them to pile into. I think I will rotate the birds out of the tanks and into the larger pen a little faster. With a few weeks on them they should be able to with stand their own stupidity better.
I know the people on the CLB's talk about what great birds they are, and I do like the looks, the eggs and all, but they are flighty. Mine are almost as flighty as Keets are.
I should be cutting back on incubating too, I was the only add on the local craigslist now there are dozens of ads for chicks, some are as low as a buck a piece. I have found some interesting ads for interesting mixes. I need to add a few EE and I want more PC and SS so those I will continue I guess and just keep the ones I need and eat the rest.
I also want White sports so I suppose that means I keep hatching CLB's and plan on eating lots of skinny little roosters this year instead of CX's. Besides I need to hatch out some White sports for you. I am thinking of moving the white sports sooner also so they are not in a position where they can get trampled.
I will be switching the majority of hatches to turkeys soon. As I have 2 of the Toms I am using in breeding pens with hens. I have 4 other hens locked up in a Bordello awaiting the arrival of Holm's Mr T.
