Same question, where did you get the DNA testing done through? I'd love to do that to "see" if what I've been told is correct. I do know my mom's family came to America from "Hessen" Germany. My grandma and grandpa on my dad's side were both Swede. My grandma was blond like me, I still have lighter blond hair, no gray yet, which my beautician tells me is unheard of for someone "my age", lol But my grandpa had black hair and blue eyes, he is the one i'm interested in... Here he is (with me as a kid), black hair even in his 60's and 70's, hardly any grey.
Family tree DNA is where I had mine done . My grandmother was from Darmstadt in Hesse . One of my dad's brothers married a low German . My understanding is the lower German language was spoken by the people of the coastal lowlands . So basically Dutch . My German grandparents came over in 1890 for my grandfather and my grandmother was already here . She was a friend of my grandfathers 2 sisters who were already here . Unknown to my grandfather my grandmother had bought his passage over . He did not find out until they had a argument when my dad was young . She said I should never have bought your ticket in anger . The guys are the last to know .
