I've never heard of the superglue treatment, so can't comment on that.

If helpful to you or others in the future: I probably would have gone with first flushing out/cleaning thoroughly with something like betadine, and then applied Neosporin (only use the kind with no pain reliever- any ingredients that end in "caine" are harmful to chickens). Depending on your other chickens, applying something like Blue-Kot may be needed to prevent pecking. I'd check it daily to see if it was showing signs of infection, and would likely reapplying Neosporin daily for a few days if it seemed to be healing reasonably well.

What did the vet suggest you look for to determine it's healing with the superglue treatment?

I had one of my chickens attacked by the neighbors dog a month ago...ripped her back skin off, revealing a totally raw back with teeth marks. This was the first time I had anything like this happen, and was beside myself. I had no help, had an injured right hand, and was expecting company that evening. Finally, my neighbor came home and she helped me hold the chicken while i washed her wounds with half peroxide & half water. I put raw honey on the wound afterward. (have heard that raw honey is a wonderful antiviral/antibacterial treatment and also confirmed it with the emergency vet on the phone, since it was a Sunday afternoon. Next day, took the chicken to a recommended aviary vet an hour away, he began administering pain & antibiotic shots. We had to return in three days, and are now on a weekly regime of just laser treatments My Suzie is doing quite well, but she is living in the cellar in my dog's crate. I just don't know when I can re-introduce her to the flock, especially, because the weather is progressively getting colder up here in the Green Mountains of VT. So this topic is of interest to me right now as well. I have a very expensive hen on my hands. She is still on antibiotic drops every other day, and after starting out with a fever the first week, she is doing very well at this point. Hope yours does as well. (photo is after three weeks)
