Hi, this is my first post so forgive me if I missed anything.
I just finished incubating my first clutch and the fifth and last egg hatched yesterday. The fourth chick was slightly mispositioned, and wound up with his ankle protruding from the egg for a while. Then the other chicks pecked at and skinned it
I'm not sure if thats the only injury, but he hasnt stood up and flops with that leg splayed to the side from that ankle joint. Not thrown out completely like in spraddle leg, still fairly close to the body.
He flops about and attempts to use the leg and his toes move, so I'm not sure what I can or should do. I've cleaned him and put some pawpaw cream on the open skin, and its possible to flex his leg under him into a normal position.
I'm keeping him separate for now so the others quit eating him (why are chickens so gross. I love them but... really) but im not sure if I should be leaving him, bandaging his leg into a proper position, euthanising him....
