My chickens have the run of the backyard and they feed outside of the coop since it is a bit small. The problem is the neighborhood pigeons eat up all their food unless I am standing guard. What to do?

You could try getting meaner chickens, or at least a mean chicken?  If not, here are some other solutions.  http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/177352/how-to-keep-wild-birds-from-eating-all-my-chickens-food

Treadle feeder.

Great article on VENTILATION, one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of coop design.

Fantastic treatise to help decide how much SPACE your chickens need.

Chicken math is not just 'addition'...but also should include Division, Multiplication and especially Subtraction!!!
