First snow here in WI...is this a problem??

We are having our first snow. We have about 7 inches already with more today. I checked on the girls this morning to find some snow had blown in the coop. They have a completely enclosed box on the top part of the coop where their perch and nesting box is located. There was NO snow in there from what I could see. Do you think this amount in the enclosed run/coop area is a problem? They also have a protected area under that box area where there was no snow.I'm thinking we should seal it up.

The first picture shows the sold box where they sleep and nest on top top part.


We enclosed the outside with thick plastic to winterize it and put barnwood on the main door facing the west.

Here is what I found inside the coop today. You can see the plastic around the previous open air area. I think the snow came in the top.




With a winter storm warning and at least 7+ inches outside, do I need to worry about that dusting that blew in? Is that amount of moisture going to be ok? You can see the area under the enclosed box (for nesting and perching) where the food and water is didn't have snow blow in. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!!!

My husband informed me that I'm crazy. If it was too cold or drafty the ladies would be hiding in the nesting boxes. I guess he's right. This is our first winter with chickens. This is a picture of the outside winterized.




I did add some straw bales to divide the lower part into a little warmer area under the boxes in upper section. The girls love to peck at the straw. So that area is quite sheltered and a little warmer.

It looks like you did a good job of enclosing it for the hens. I see no issue with the amount of snow you have now.
