What breed is my rooster

Thread Starter

What breed is my rooster? I got him as a hatching egg and wasn't told what breed he was. I was thinking that he was maybe a North Holland Blue, a Dominique or a Cuckoo Maran. If anyone has any idea please let me know, I would really appreciate it. A picture of him is below. Thanks

Maybe a Black sex link cockerel?

Looks like a black sexlink cockerel to me. He's got yellow skin, so that rules out both North Holland and Marans. Dominiques have rose combs. Your boy's barring is too dark for a Barred Rock male, and he's got that golden red on his wings.

He looks like a black sexlink cockerel to me too. He could also be a hatchery quality Barred Rock rooster.

He's probably a Black Sex-Link cockerel.

Mixed breed, probably a Black Sex-link.

Breeder of Dutch bantams, Wyandotte bantams, and a few exhibition rabbits.

Feel free to ask me questions about chicken and rabbit care, breeds, and showing! I'm always happy to help!

Nature's first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf's a flower

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay. --Robert Frost
