its now day 23, i can hear my chick chirping inside the egg and feel it moving around but there has been no pipping, should i worry? or give it longer? there was a time a week or so ago where mother hen got bullied away from her eggs and they went a bit cold, hence they are now in a incubator, the seem to be doing ok but i hear that this can also harden the shell and make it hard for them to break though... this is my first hatching and i just have no idea what to do???

:welcome!

What has the temperature in your incubator been? They could just be running a little late, especially if the eggs cooled and your temp has been low. If you can hear them peeping in there and they're moving around it sounds as though they are internally pipped, so they should be externally pipping soon. I would recommend reading the assisted hatching guide written by Sally Sunshine just in case you need to help.

I going through the same thing, my hen went broody for 19 days only and got off them. When I went to check, the eggs were stone cold so I put them in the incubator, today is day 21, I've seen some moving but no signs of pipping. Good luck and keep us posted, I also need some hope at the moment :)

best of luck! i decided not to intervene as im very new to this and unfortuantly the chick was dead by the next morning, kinda kicking myself now!! but i have had another hatch since, it was having the same problem but with the experience from the last one i had a better idea of what to do so i now have my first little chicky! yay! fingers crossed i get another one today, hope you get some hatcing aswell!
