Does egg production stop COMPLETELY in winter?

@dekel18042 how old are the birds in question? Even in hardy breeds each progressive laying cycle the bird becomes more prone to longer and more pronounced interruptions.

I read this thread with great interest as my 40 plus chickens have been moulting since August...I was getting between two to five eggs daily and suddenly nothing at all...today I have 10 eggs...I do not give mine any artificial lighting and they are of various breeds...all of the moulting has now finished...I feel that if their system needs a rest then it is well deserved...

I have eggs from the Summer months that I have frozen and they are great for omelettes and scrambled...the colour is lighter than a naturally recently hatched egg...but the taste is the same...

Just a thought for those excess eggs from Summer...

I feel badly, I have been giving eggs to my parents and gotten them hooked on them, and now I'll probably not be giving any to them for a while. I did tell my mom about a place just a few miles away that sells fresh eggs.
My step-dad seems to be allergic to store bought eggs, something in them, but has no problems at all with my eggs, so seems to be making up for lost time!
