Can I eat eggs that have been outside for 4 days?

I'm going to be out of town for 4 days. Can I still eat eggs that have been left in the nesting box? Will it make me sick to eat them since they stayed outside for 4 days? What if they are dirty and I have to wash them when I get home. Will they still be good? I don't have anyone to come collect them daily while I'm gone. Should I throw them away? The highs will be about 70 and the low about 50. Thanks for your help!!
 
They will be fine, i am sure, but if you don't feel comfortable eating them, then don't.

Yes, they will be fine to eat.... If it were 100 degrees out I would say toss them but with low temps like 50 and 70, they're just as good as sitting on the kitchen counter, which is where I keep my eggs ;)


Do keep in mind that leaving eggs in boxes for long periods could possibly lead to a curious hen or an accidental poked egg, leading someone e to taste it...and voila, egg eaters :(

They'll be fine to eat but try not to leave them in the boxes unless absolutely necessary, like leaving for a few days ;)

Four days? At that temp? They should be good for 21-28 days in the nest. They are actually viable for hatching if they are fertile.

So it should be good for eating that long. Of course it may get soiled if left that long. Washing them when you get back and should be refrigerated immediately. I hope they have plenty of water and food tho while your gone.
