I know quite a few folks who use net bags (like the kind onions come in). They put the eggs in the bags at lockdown and they hatch in them and stay there until they're sorted into their correct places when they're taken from the incubator (mostly to keep breeds separate, but it could work in this case too, I suppose).
No ones ever reported any tangles or injuries, so they might be an option for you
