Help please!

My my in the fifteen years or so that I have raised chickens this has been the worst year. I have two hens in my basement recovering from a Fox attack, had a hen pass last night from what I am assuming was a respiratory issue got to her too late and unsure what to do to protect my remaining flock her loss is sad to me,but her sisters are my main concern now what should I do??
 
this year is also the worst for me i have had almost half my chickens die from illnesses. just try to sanitize the coop and give the remaining chickens antibiotics and hope for the best.
 
Pardon me for disagreeing but why would you administer antibiotics if you don't know what is wrong with your chickens?

Respiratory issues can be viral, fungal, protozoal, environmental and even nutritional. In the event it is bacterial, only about half of those can be cured with antibiotics.

Prophylactically administering antibiotics with no diagnosis is why we have so many problems now.

If the OPs birds show no symptoms, there is no way I'd administer antibiotics.
If you lose another bird in short order, be ready to have a necropsy done at your state poultry lab. Any other course of action is a stab in the dark.

i use this antibiotic that is made by durvet but it doesnt say the name on the package put it also says vitamins and electrolytes i dont know if that is the actual name of the product but you could look on their website it is called http://www.durvet.com/ it is this powder and the package is a yellow one here is a picture i dont know if this helps any but i hope it does
 
well this really isnt an antibiotic it just helps the chicken and has always worked for us in unknown diseases
 
Fair enough in truth I have never given antibiotics before never had so much trouble the hens I have are great layers but I got them a TSC and first and for most the breeds were miss labeled and all around Im very unsatisfied none of them grew to there full size they all have little oddities for there breed I may start anew next spring with chicks from a local breeder I found late this year I want to be able to see the parent stock and diside from them if the chicks will be worth the money spent and I don't expect a perfect chicken mind you but several of the hens have crooked beaks and that's not what I'm after II wish to raise a flock and let them breed and raise there own chicks

I second sanitizing the quarters of your hens. Had one drop from a mystery illness a few months ago, got the other chickens out, disposed of the carcass safely and sterilized the coop area. I have my coop set up on a concrete slab with a couple of inches of shavings on top of it (they have a pen to roam around in during the day where my garden is at), so I just moved the coop with the help of a friend, raked and brushed the shavings away into contractor bags, hosed the inside and outside of the coop/floor down with some diluted bleach, and replaced the shavings after it was dry. When we put them back in their coop, one of them was acting sick, so we quarantined her, but she recovered after a day and we let her back into general population without problem (probably should've waited a few more days but she was keen on returning to her friends

). Haven't had any disease issues yet. Check for fungus or mold on the inside of your pen/coop near the bottom if it's wood.
