Kitchen scraps

Thread Starter

I save kitchen scraps for my girls but am wondering if anyone knows of anything I should not give them.  I let them have watermelon (which they LOVE), cantalope rinds, slightly overripe tomatoes, other vegetable stuff, blueberries that the birds pecked, overripe raspberries, apple, pear, peach, etc peels (no seeds or pits), carrot peels, potato peels--that type of stuff.  I read somewhere that if you're going to give them potato peels they should be blanched first.  I'll put them in the compost before I do that!!

You should avoid feeding raw potatoes, avocados, onions, chocolate, coffee, tea, and anything overly fatty/sugary (no cake or bacon cheeseburgers!) Nothing rotten or moldy. Meat and dairy should only be fed in limited amounts.
