While not in the nest box, she safely laid this morning in a depression where she digs and takes dust baths!!

That's funny, she's getting closer, silly chickens.
Chickens, muscovy ducks, turkeys, donkeys , goats, dogs, fish, parakeets, a parrot, and a cat.

Chickens and dogs are healing to the soul.

I brake for squirrels.

Some of my birds.

Congratulations! My Lavender Orpingtons were older than 35 weeks before I got that first egg. If I go by what the person I got them from told me, they were around 10 - 11 months when they finally started laying in November. They lay almost every day now, always in the nest and the eggs are beautiful and very clean. Well worth the wait!

1 husband, 2 weenie dogs, 5 indoor cats, and 2 lavender orpingtons all happily co-existing in Patterson, CA.
