Breed Standards: Appenzeller Spitzhauben

I bought 4 Silver Spangled A-S pullets this week. They are quite inconsistent: their plumage is similar, one is quite a bit darker with a much bigger crest; one has an almost minimal crest. A couple have blue ears, a couple pink. A couple have beards, the others not.

These are supposed to be hatchery purebreds but I'm wondering why there are differences between them.

These are photos of two of them:

Yes, I'm not displeased with them but I'm a bit surprised at the differences between them. Just checking to see if that was normal.

I've got a great looking cockerel - his dad is a purebred Silver-Lace Polish and his mum is an Ameraucana x. He's got a mohawk and muffs.

It would be interesting to see what kind of chicks he'd produce if bred with the A-S.
