Indications of cockerels at 10-12 weeks are significantly more comb development, either in size or redness; patchy coloring especially dark red on the shoulders/wings; it's also about the age when male feathering begins to develop and become visible, so pointier feather shapes and more glossy appearance almost to the point of looking wet.
The birds on the left, top is a cockerel - see the darker shade of red on the shoulder/wing area; bottom is a pullet- small barely pink comb and even coloring.
Right- Top is a pullet- nice even coloring; middle is a cockerel- patchy coloring with darker red on the wing/shoulder; bottom is a cockerel- bright red comb and darker shade of red on the shoulder/wing.
