Went to the relatives for 3 days this thanksgiving. I did not want to leave my farm in the care of the neighbor, but had no other choice so I tried to train him best I could. He has a good heart, and does the best he can, but is not at all experienced. I have the bulk of my flock in a portable pen, and come back today to find a smashed dead pullet, and several with leg and toe injuries from being rolled over by the pen. Also, the pen that needs to be moved daily was only moved once during my absence, and the whole ground was a mat of poop; the waterer was filthy; in short a bad situation, as I had expected. Was very ticked off and disappointed. Anyway, rant over. Thanks for enduring it!
A pullet whose leg was smashed has her leg and foot swollen up to twice the normal size, she is in pain, and she cannot walk very well. She does not appear to have any broken bones. Is there anything I can do for her to relieve her pain and help her heal faster? Or should I put her down. TIA for any advice :)
