don't forget to lock up the coop for the night!

GOOD NEWS UPDATE!!!

This morning, we found our three missing chicks emerging from UNDER the coop! They were chilly but alive! :) Can't express how happy I am! Our coop is like Fort Knox, so when they are free- ranging, it kills me when I can't protect them. They mostly forage in the surrounding wooded areas and have lots of places to hide. I think this chick just didn't hear or see the hawk in time. Sad for hi,/her, but thankful the other 3 were not victims too!
Sorry about the loss, but glad the others found a place to hide!!!

well I told my hubby what I want for Christmas...a game camera haha. 24 hour chicken surveillance

We have a two cameras inside the coop for when the chicks hatched. It gave up us peace of mind knowing we could watch them inside the coop, and then also when we integrated the chicks with the other adults. We could move the cams outside, but honestly, one would have to stare at the cams all the time to catch a hawk in action. :-( you could use it to watch out for them at night though, since animals take longer to get in and kill/maim. Grisly, I know!
