As for the menu planing, I cook most every night, so menu and meal planning comes second nature for me.
Dropping in to grocery stores last minute can be a tough one to break but once you get your car trained, you'll be gold!

I think I am the left over queen. I cooked a cockrel a few days ago. First roasted one, and it was tender, served up with onions potatoes and carrots. Tonight, left overs were put in a creamy sauce, served over noodles. Some breast meat set aside for hubby's sandwich. Next serving: add a bag of mixed veggies to those left overs for a soup. Not bad: 3 meals to serve 3 people + 1 lunch from one not so big bird.
LOL, thanks LG
I used to be real bad about not using leftovers but DH has me pretty well cured of that. I still don't like eating the same thing 3 meals straight but he's figured out if he changes things up a bit, I'm good. He does most of the cooking but I bake and make a lot of soups.
He made a huge lasagna the other night and we figured the cost to make it at about $15. That's not cheap but when you figure it feeds 2 people 5 meals, that makes it a deal!
